Foot felt perfectly supported the entire time I was playing and didn’t feel like there were any compromises made when making a shoe meant for quicker movements and players. Only other shoe I’ve played in that has a React-type insole is the Zoom BB NXT which definitely has some issues with lateral movement/cuts - the shoe had a tendency to crumple which could be problematic, but that wasn’t the case here. Heel counter was functional and did its job, nothing outstanding but it doesn’t need to be. The foot feels very contained and snug inside the shoe, both from the React insole below the foot and the upper/lacing above the foot. Since this shoe is meant for fast cuts and accelerating/decelerating on a dime, lockdown is very important. In 2.5 hours of shooting/practice I never once I had a problem feeling as if my foot was getting loose. The mesh is also a ventilation-friendly material. There are holes cut out along the top of the toe padding and along the tongue for ventilation, and on a California evening outdoors, my feet didn’t get sweaty or muggy.
There’s a plastic streak that runs through along the exterior of the small-toe side, probably for containment and support.īreathability/Ventilation: Solid. Nothing too premium about the materials, which is to be expected of a Nike performance shoe (cutting “premium” materials out in favor of lighter, cheaper materials). Materials: Upper is mostly soft mesh with soft foam-like material above the toes for comfort/padding. As for me, I’m around 5’10” and 140 and a wide/flat footer and your mileage may vary of course if you weigh significantly more or are much bigger than I am, and I have a tendency to play light on my forefoot. Initial Thoughts: When this shoe was announced and the shoe schematics were revealed, I had a very good feeling about these and I was right.
